Ella Turns Two

Elzaan and Wynand are another great couple I met on my travels to Cape Town.  I was asked to shoot their daughters second birthday and a couple of her cute little sister Lisa.  When we got to the house it was a bit hectic, but after a while we settled in and got some fabulous smiley faces. Then as it is Cape Town, the rain came and the whole party had to move inside, but in the end it turned into a big success.  I hope you enjoy your photos and it was great fun for me and my two lovely assistants.

Will be putting up some of the beautiful Mickey Mouse party later tonight...

Two Twin Plus Four

Thanks to my very good friend Werner, I had lots of business in Cape Town. So when I called Marise to plan the shoot, I got scared when I heard this funky mom has a household with six boisterous boys.  To top it all, four of her sons are twins. I immediately started to goggle for ideas how to do this challenging session and I must say it was so much fun, the kids are great and congratz to the parents for raising such lovely young men.

Family Of Four (For Now)

It has been a hectic couple of weeks, and I did not get the chance to write anything on my blog, but I am back with a vengeance. Last week I traveled to Cape Town and did a few shoots of friends and family there.  It was a challenging experience, because its the first time I had to shoot so many people in one week.

This lovely family is friends of mine and the dad and I went to school together. They are expecting there third child and if I have my facts straight the little one will be delivered today. So good luck Desiree, and I hope everything goes well.  It was a honor capturing your family and so much fun...

David Just Turned One

I am always in debt with my computer geek friend who hooks me up with the latest and the greatest, so about two weeks ago I told him that I will take photos of his almost one year old little boy, but David's mom and my schedules just couldn't meet up, and the weather also was a problem. So this morning the stars aligned and I got to take these amazing shots of David.

He's Not Heavy He's My Brother

I know the song has a totally different meaning, but Jan my youngest brother used to weigh 180kg.  And now after three years and 80 kilograms later he is enjoying every minute of being a fit father.  So the other day my sister-in-law Janelle (but we are so close Jan calls us koeksisters) came to me and said that they urgently needs family photos for church, because they are christening little Linè and they want a photo to put up in church while the service is on.  So that afternoon I went to the farm and quickly took a few snaps of them.  Of course as it seems to be  the trend with almost all men I have shot, Jan was very impatient and just wanted to get it over with.  I wish I could understand this, but I am planning a whole blog post later this month on impatient fathers.  So anyway here is the photos I took of my little brother and his wonderful family Janelle, Jannis and Linè.

Family In The Gumtree Forest

Ora and Niel Marais contacted me a while ago and wanted a family shoot, but the only time that suited them was midday, because they moved the same week we had the shoot.  So I remembered this Gumtree forest and took all the photos there because there is solid shade.

First I took these snapshots of the litlle girl called Marli and her brother Dehan. These two were so cute and those blue eyes came out brilliant.  I am a sucker for blue eyes...

And then we focused on the family shoot.  They wanted informal photos to use in their house. I am very happy with what we got.

A Bumble Bee Called Ciska

I have been wanting to take photos of my brothers little girl for a while now and yesterday when I drove back from the game farm I saw this beautiful field of yellow wildflowers and I thought it would be the perfect location to shoot this cutie pie.  So this morning I phoned her mom and she told me about this adorable bumble bee swimming costume she owns and we decided that it would be perfect for her shoot this afternoon. So at 4 o'clock we packed the car and off we went, but it was not easy, we had to conquer barbed wire fences and thorns, but I think it was all worth the trouble because she just looked stunning.

And then my favorite shot of the day.  Shooting this one almost at the end of the day into the light - still practicing ...
